Shea butter has been used from ancient times, particularly in the time before the Middle Ages. Shea Butter is derived from an African native tree that has a little fruit resembling an almond with a nut inside. The nut, which takes 40–50 years to develop, is separated from the fruit that has fallen, after which the butter is boiled and allowed to float to the top. Then, we use this priceless butter in our cosmetics.
