1voteA: No supplement is FDA-approved to lengthen telomeres, and the science of telomere elongation in living adults remains an active research area. Some nutrients (vitamin D, vitamin C, B vitamins, omega-3s, polyphenols) are associated in observational studies with longer telomere length, likely by reducing oxidative stress that shortens telomeres. The clearest evidence-based interventions for telomere health are: regular exercise, adequate sleep, stress reduction, Mediterranean-style diet, smoking avoidance, and maintaining healthy weight. Supplements can be supportive but do not produce dramatic telomere changes.Posted by on Sunday, May 3, 2026

1voteA: Supplements cannot legally make disease-prevention or anti-aging claims under FDA rules — only "structure/function" claims (e.g., "supports cellular health"). Telomere length is itself one biomarker of biological aging but does not equate to lifespan or healthspan in any direct way. Be cautious of marketing that promises age reversal, dramatic life extension, or specific telomere length increases — these claims are not substantiated. Healthy aging is best supported by lifestyle factors with supplements as adjuncts.Posted by on Sunday, May 3, 2026

1voteA: Commercial telomere length tests exist but interpretation is challenging. Telomere length varies widely between individuals and even between cells in the same person. Single-time measurements have limited clinical utility — the rate of change matters more than any one measurement. Major medical organizations do not currently recommend telomere testing for routine clinical care or aging assessment. Spend money on actionable health data instead: blood pressure, lipid panel, A1C, vitamin D, fitness assessments.Posted by on Sunday, May 3, 2026
