A: Most adults — especially men and postmenopausal women — do not need supplemental iron, and excess iron can build up in tissues over time, contributing to oxidative stress and cardiovascular concerns. Hemochromatosis (a hereditary iron-overload condition) affects about 1 in 200 people, often undiagnosed. An iron-free multi is the safer default for adult men and postmenopausal women unless a doctor has identified iron deficiency through blood testing.

A: For all the essential vitamins and trace minerals: yes. The 60-capsule bottle delivers 100 percent of daily reference intakes for most nutrients in a single capsule. The trade-off in any one-a-day format is that bulky minerals (calcium, magnesium) cannot fit at full daily targets — those are at maintenance amounts, and a separate cal-mag supplement is recommended if dietary intake is low.

A: A prenatal already contains a complete multivitamin (typically with iron and higher folic acid for pregnancy), so do not stack a multi on top of a prenatal. With other targeted supplements (probiotic, omega-3, vitamin D, magnesium), stacking is fine and often beneficial. Avoid stacking multiple multivitamins simultaneously, as some fat-soluble vitamins (A, D, E, K) can accumulate to excess.
